Getting more offensive

Hi Tom
I am at Intermediate level, I use the V989 Robot that you listed in your write up, having used the V981 for over a year previously.  I find that I am OK in hitting reasonable offensive drives against the robot, however I find that I don’t do this when I am playing. I am able to get into position, but then I just go for placement, instead of hitting hard/fast.  What do you suggest? Thanks Philip

The good news is that you are capable of playing powerful drives and you are getting in position to use your powerful drives. Now it is all about execution.

What is stopping you playing your drives? When you play, try giving yourself a different goal. Instead of being focused on winning the match, make your goal that you have to attempt three powerful drives.

It doesn’t matter if the drives land on the table or miss. The important part is that you have attempted to use the drives. If you do this for a few weeks, you should build your confidence in using your powerful drives.

Simply, go for it and don’t worry if you miss.
