In this video I explain how to return short backspin serves. This is a very common serve and fairly straight forward to get back over the net. But there is a real skill in returning this serve well and putting the server under pressure.
In the video I look at three main options for returning a short backspin serve – a touch return, a push return or a flick return. I explain the benefits of each option and also briefly describe how to do each shot.
If you want a more detailed explanation on how to do a touch shot, deep push or flick, then take a look at these videos…
- Touch shout (with Paul Drinkhall)
- Long, fast push (with Craig Bryant)
- Backhand flick (with Ferenc Horvath)
- Forehand flick (with Ferenc Horvath)
Thank you to Ferenc Horvath for demonstrating how to return a short backspin serve in this video. You can find out more about Ferenc on his website: www.paragontabletennis.co.uk
